conversational tone With ADD Face Daily Challenges
Adult women who suffer from ADHD have to deal with daily challenges. Many doctors still believe that ADD is a condition just for men and boys. Many ADD symptoms in females vary in response to hormones. They are more apparent when you reach puberty, but they diminish when estrogen levels drop during PMS or perimenopause.
Symptoms

Women with adult ADD are impatient, easily irritated and impulsive. They are often impulsive and jump into projects without planning or considering the implications, such as careers and relationships. Many suffer from a high degree of sensitivity to rejection which makes it hard to deal with the real or perceived rejection. They are more likely than those with ADD to engage in risky behavior such as early sexual contact or casual sexual relations. They may also have multiple partners, an unprotected pregnancy, or multiple partners. Depression is usually a co-existing illness or a result of ADD, and must also be treated. ADD symptoms are more evident in girls during puberty, PMS, and as estrogen levels decrease in perimenopausal and menopausal cycles.
Diagnosis
Although ADD symptoms of women are similar to those in men, doctors could not recognize the symptoms due to misguided assumptions that ADD is more prevalent in males. Women who suffer from ADD tend to be more emotional, especially during puberty, PMS and in perimenopause and menopause as hormone levels change. They may be impulsive, rushing into things without planning. Depression is often a co-occurring disorder or a result.
